Michele is a native Richmonder, growing up in the West End. In 1987, Michele graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg with a bachelor’s degree in History and enrolled in the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
During law school and shortly thereafter, Michele worked in the discipline sections of the Virginia Board of Nursing and the Board of Medicine, which regulates health care providers such as nurses, physicians and chiropractors.
After passing the Virginia Bar, Michele moved to Virginia Beach where she worked for an insurance company handling medical and legal malpractice, and general liability claims. Michele returned to Richmond in 1996, and received her Masters in Business Administration from University of Richmond in 1999. Following her return to Richmond, Michele was active in her homeowners association, a large West End community, serving on the Government Affairs Committee and then the Board of Directors for a number of years, including one year as President.
Beginning in 1999, Michele moved to the private practice of law defending professionals, including physicians, hospitals, attorneys and accountants . Eleven of those years were spent with the same core group of attorneys, through several iterations of law firms. Michele also practiced in the areas of commercial litigation, insurance coverage and community association law.
Along with Scott Golightly, she is a founding member of Golightly Mulligan & Morgan PLC. Michele’s practice focuses on professional liability defense, insurance coverage, and community association law. Michele also practices in a wide range of civil litigation including commercial litigation, real estate disputes including representing landlords in landlord tenant matters, and will contests, and defense of attorneys before the Virginia State Bar.
Michele frequently lectures and publishes on the topics of preventing legal malpractice claims, attorney ethics, and community association issues. She also served as Virginia editor for the Defense Research Institute’s Compendium on Claims-Made Insurance Coverage Cases, published in 2013.
Michele is admitted to practice in all Virginia state courts, both Eastern and Western District and Bankruptcy Courts of Virginia and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Michele is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, the Defense Research Institute, the John Marshall Inn of Court, the City of Richmond Bar Association, and the Metropolitan Womens Bar Association, where she serves on the Legislative and Audit Committees. She has also served as Chairman of the Professional Liability Section of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. Michele has been named a Virginia Super Lawyer from 2009 through 2013, including as one of the Top 25 Women Lawyers in 2010.
Golightly Mulligan & Morgan PLC is also a member of the Community Associations Institute (CAI). Michele has been active in the Central Virginia chapter of CAI, serving as the chair of the Legislative Committee from 2009 to 2011, and in 2011 was elected to the chapter’s Board of Directors and served as its President in 2014.
